Assignment 2
The role of a nurse leader as a knowledge worker
Reflect on the concepts of informatics and knowledge work as presented in the Resources. Consider a hypothetical scenario based on your own healthcare practice or organization that would require or benefit from the access/collection and application of data. Your scenario may involve a patient, staff, or management problem or gap.

NURS 6051N

1. In this Discussion, you will consider a scenario that would benefit from access to data and how such access could facilitate both problem-solving and knowledge formation.

To Prepare:

Reflect on the concepts of informatics and knowledge work as presented in the Resources.

Consider a hypothetical scenario based on your own healthcare practice or organization that would require or benefit from the access/collection and application of data. Your scenario may involve a patient, staff, or management problem or gap.

Part 2:

Assignment: The Nurse Leader as Knowledge Worker

The term “knowledge worker” was first coined by management consultant and author Peter Drucker in his book, The Landmarks of Tomorrow (1959). Drucker defined knowledge workers as high-level workers who apply theoretical and analytical knowledge, acquired through formal training, to develop products and services. Does this sound familiar?

Nurses are very much knowledge workers. What has changed since Drucker’s time are the ways that knowledge can be acquired. The volume of data that can now be generated and the tools used to access this data have evolved significantly in recent years and helped healthcare professionals (among many others) to assume the role of knowledge worker in new and powerful ways.

In this Assignment, you will consider the evolving role of the nurse leader and how this evolution has led nurse leaders to assume the role of knowledge worker. You will prepare a presentation with an info graphic to educate others on the role of nurse as knowledge worker.

Yoost, Barbara L., Msn RN CNE Anef, and Lynne R. Crawford. Fundamentals of Nursing E-Book: Active Learning for Collaborative Practice. Elsevier Health Sciences, 2022.

To Prepare:

Review the concepts of informatics as presented in the Resources.

Reflect on the role of a nurse leader as a knowledge worker.

Consider how knowledge may be informed by data that is collected/accessed.

The Assignment:

Explain the concept of a knowledge worker.

Define and explain nursing informatics and highlight the role of a nurse leader as a knowledge worker.

Develop a simple infographic to help explain these concepts.

NOTE: For guidance on infographics, including how to create one in PowerPoint, see “How to Make an Infographic in PowerPoint” as presented in the Resources.

Present the hypothetical scenario you originally shared in the Discussion Forum. Include your examination of the data that you could use, how the data might be accessed/collected, and what knowledge might be derived from that data. Be sure to incorporate feedback received from your colleagues’ replies.

ORDER NOW FOR CUSTOMIZED, INSTRUCTION-COMPLIANT PAPER – Knowledge Worker And Nursing Informatics

In this Assignment, you will consider the evolving role of the nurse leader and how this evolution has led nurse leaders to assume the role of knowledge worker. You will prepare a PowerPoint presentation with an infographic (graphic that visually represents information, data, or knowledge. Infographics are intended to present information quickly and clearly.) to educate others on the role of nurse as knowledge worker.

Reference: Drucker, P. (1959). The landmarks of tomorrow. New York, NY: HarperCollins Publishers.

NOTE: For guidance on infographics, including how to create one in PowerPoint, see “How to Make an Infographic in PowerPoint” presented in the Resources.

Your PowerPoint should Include the hypothetical scenario you originally shared in the Discussion Forum. Include your examination of the data that you could use, how the data might be accessed/collected, and what knowledge might be derived from that data. Be sure to incorporate feedback received from your colleagues’ responses.
A good example of a scenario that would benefit from access to data is a case where a healthcare centre wants to know the number of patients visiting on a daily basis so as to establish whether the available staff is enough. Data of this nature can be collected by registering all the patients that come to seek medical services on a daily basis for a period of one month. Upon registering the patient, the data might be stored in the computer and retrieved when needed. The only people that will be allowed to access such information are the staff members (McGonigle, 2017).

The specific knowledge that will be derived from the data on a number of the patient visit is information on whether there is a shortage of labour force. In any case, the health facility will, for instance, establish that the number of patients visiting the facility is too high when compared to the available number of nurses; this will be taken to mean that there is a staff shortage. It will also be interpreted to mean that the current staff is being overworked and so the quality of health services being provided is more likely to be compromised (Sweeney, 2017).

A nurse leader can use clinical reasoning and judgment in the formation of knowledge from this experience to approximate the overall performance of the health facility being managed. The nurse leader could for example reason that since the health facility is understaffed, it may not be performing well. The nurse leader could judge that the patient feedback is more likely to be negative suggesting poor performance. This is due to the fact that feedback from the patients is one of the tools used to tell whether a health facility is performing well or not (McGonigle, 2017).

When we consider this topic of DNA replication

yurf as an example of peer response

We should take a step back and consider the function of the cell’s nucleus before delving deeper into the topic of DNA replication. The nucleus, which is a cellular organelle, is where the genetic information of the cell is stored. The nucleus is a structure that is found in the center of the cell. The nucleus of the cell is in charge of directing the cellular activity of the organism. This function includes the creation of new molecules such as proteins and nucleic acids, among other things. The deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) found within the nucleus is responsible for regulating protein synthesis. A small amount of DNA can be found within the mitochondria as well. This is an appropriate time to point out that all cells will have a nucleus at some point during their lifetime, but not for the duration of their lives. Do red blood cells have a nucleus, or do they not? No. Red blood cells (RBCs) are also referred to as erythrocytes in some circles. Due to the fact that RBCs do not replicate during their lifetime, there is no requirement for a nucleus, and the cell is recycled when it reaches the end of its lifespan, which is approximately 120 days (Seeley et al., 2014).

Critical Thinking: We must take into consideration the length of time it takes for the cell cycle to complete. How long does it take to complete this task? There is an interphase and a mitotic phase in the cell cycle. The interphase of the cell cycle takes up the majority of the time, whereas the mitotic phase, also known as the M-phase, is the final stage of the process. The M-phase, which occurs at the end of the cell’s division process to produce two daughter cells, may be the most critical step. Here is a video on DNA replication that I used to watch when I was in school. I hope it is of assistance to you. There is a demonstration of how both strands of the DNA helix are unzipped and copied to produce two identical DNA molecules in this video.

I went to this website and discovered a plethora of additional DNA videos! Here’s a question for you: What exactly are these Okazaki fragments?

Incompatibility between mother and fetus in Rh blood type: First vs Second pregnancy

Incompatibility between mother and fetus in Rh blood type: First vs Second pregnancy
Main Post Claimed Topic Incompatibility between mother and fetus in Rh blood type: first or second pregnancy, as an illustration

Everyone has a different blood type, according to research. The ABO blood types A, B, AB, and O are the four blood types that exist in the world. The antigens found in a person’s blood cells can be used to determine that person’s blood type. Rh factor is a type of protein found on the surface of red blood cells that helps them to function properly. The Rh blood group is named after the rhesus monkey, in which the Rh antigens were discovered for the first time in 1940. (Saladin, 2020). Rh antigens are divided into three types: C, D, and E. C is the most common antigen, followed by D and E. Antigen D is the antigen that causes the most reactivity. People who are Rh positive (Rh +) are those who have the Rh antigen in their bloodstream (Saladin, 2020). If a person does not have the antigen, he or she is classified as Rh negative (Rh-) (Pegoraro et al, 2020). When a person’s blood type is mismatched with that of his or her second fetus, such as when the mother is Rh- and the fetus is Rh+, serious health consequences can result, including death from anemia in the mother. It is unlikely that any problems will arise if the mother is Rh+ and the first child is either Rh+ or Rh-. What is it about the first pregnancy that isn’t a problem, but the second pregnancy that is a problem? The mother will not be sensitized as a result of this.

There are usually no problems during a woman’s first pregnancy if she is +Rh- and the baby is Rh. This is true even if she is +Rh- and the baby is Rh. The mixing of fetal blood with the mother’s blood is a source of concern, and this most frequently occurs during delivery (Rh factor blood test, 2018). This results in the mother being exposed to the Rh + factor, which causes her to produce Rh antibodies, which are then used to attack any Rh- fetuses in subsequent pregnancies. An injection of RhoGAM, which contains antibodies to the Rh factor, is given to mothers who are Rh-positive. These antibodies bind to Rh+ fetal RBCs and ‘hide’ them from the mother’s immune system, allowing the fetus to develop normally.

preventing the formation of antibodies against the Rh factor It is necessary to administer the RhoGam shot each time a mother is pregnant with a Rh+ fetus. Saladin et al., 2020).

The RH factor will be tested for a second time during a woman’s second pregnancy by her OB/GYN in order to perform an antibody screen. This test is usually administered around Week 28. If a mother becomes pregnant with a Rh+fetus, the antibodies produced by the mother can pass through the placenta and agglutinate the fetal erythrocytes, resulting in birth defects (Saladin, 2020). This results in the development of a condition known as hemolytic anemia in the children born as a result of this (Saladin, 2020). Why should we be concerned? According to studies, 50 percent of women all over the world are not fully educated on this topic and do not receive immunoprophylaxis as a result of a lack of awareness about the disease (Pegoraro et al., 2020). It has the potential to make the difference between life and death.

W/C 432 is an abbreviation for Western Civilization 432.

Using Critical Thinking: Many women are overjoyed when they discover that they are pregnant. The fact remains that there are some issues that every woman should be aware of. The blood type of the expectant mother is one of the most important issues to be addressed during the first trimester of pregnancy. Rh can be remembered in the following ways: MRh+ BRh+ or BRh- = OK. (M stands for Mom, and B stands for Baby.) MRh- BRh+ = Unfavorable. Knowing one’s RH blood type is extremely important for the health of both the mother and the child during pregnancy. If a woman’s reproductive hormones are incompatible with her fetus, there are treatments available that can help her have a healthy pregnancy and birth. Mom will be able to devote more time to the important things, such as welcoming a healthy baby into the world. Personally, I am currently 12 weeks pregnant with my second child, and I will be having a blood test the following day. As with many others, I was never given a thorough education on Rh incompatibility.

WC 153 is an abbreviation for World Class 153.

Academic Success and Professional Development Plan

What is an academic success plan? What is an academic success strategy, and how does it work?
Your Academic Success Plan, which is comprised of specific, attainable actions, allows you to take charge of developing a personalized approach to help you reach your academic objectives.
Professional growth entails a variety of tasks and responsibilities.
Throughout education, the term “professional development” can refer to a wide range of specialized training, formal education, or advanced professional learning that is intended to assist administrators, teachers, and other educators in improving their professional knowledge, competence, and effectiveness.
What is a professional development plan, and how does it work?
In order to enable ongoing improvement and career development, a staff member’s professional development plan defines the goals, required skill and competency development, and targets that must be met. When a staff member is identified as needing improvement, it is not appropriate to wait until after that person has been identified.
What is the best way to write a professional development plan?
The steps involved in creating an IPDP are as follows:
List your professional responsibilities and activities. Develop an understanding of your existing roles and obligations as a graduate student.
Evaluate your abilities and knowledge. Make a list of your abilities and knowledge.
Establish objectives…. Develop a plan of action….
Maintain a record of your progress.

Justification of the Article
I would recommend the article in the nursing practice since it highlights some of the factors that influence decision-making. The factors include awareness, autonomy, situation, understanding the patient’s situation, and education. Nurses should be aware of the factors that influence their decision. The factors can influence the decisions positively or negatively.
Academic Success and Professional Development Plan
I will add the article to the academic resources that I will use to enhance my decision-making process in the nursing practice. My approach to identifying and analyzing peer-reviewed research is to find out the methodology, the theories, findings, and summary of the article. The information will help me to identify if an article is important in the nursing practice. One of the strategies that I used to locate the appropriate article is to find peer-reviewed resources in the university library. I had to set the parameters such as finding an article that is at least five years old and indicating that the article should be peer-reviewed. The second approach is to indicate the topic clearly to help me locate the appropriate materials.
The resource I intend to use in the future is by White et al. (2019). The article deals with the benefits of using decision-making to eliminate fear and anxiety among nurse students. The article is important to help nurses determine the best decisions without feeling anxious. The approach is effective in improving the quality of decisions and patient outcomes.

In today’s business world, advanced preparation is critical to achieving academic and professional success. Professional and academic success depends heavily on the network built. The network consists of specialized team members and individuals who contribute to academic and professional achievement in medicine (Siciliano et al., 2018). So, this paper outlines numerous academic and professional connections that have helped me succeed academically and professionally as a practicing nurse.
For example, my academic performance as a nurse practitioner would be dependent on my instructor and classmates’ support. It would be motivating as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner to have professors and peers help guide the study process. If I need help with research, study, or course completion, the instructor is always willing to help (Siciliano et al., 2018). Academic friends also help me succeed in class by helping me understand concepts that the instructor may not have covered.
Professionally, it is also important to establish relationships that can help you succeed at work. Having a strong network in the medical sector is critical to a successful career. Having a nurse and nurse practitioner mentor has also helped me become a good RN. The nurse practitioner would guide me through my practicals and rounds as a new nurse practitioner. The nursing mentor would choose what is best for me and how I may advance professionally. It also increases your chances of getting considered for future Nurse Practitioner Psychiatric positions.

A/P Networking Week 1 | Part 1

The academic and professional networks I have chosen to aid me through the Nurse Practitioner program are listed below. Each network member helps me advance my career.

This tool can help me read articles written by doctors who have conducted actual research. All of the techniques I’ve acquired can help me succeed as a nurse practitioner student.
Conclusion
The chosen professionals and academics are known to help me achieve my goal of being a successful practicing nurse. For example, in academics, professors and classmates guided me through the activities that were essentially encouraged to become one of the leading performers in medical classes (Jackson, 2017). Professionally, the chosen persons aided in adapting to professional procedures and evaluating the aims required to become a successful operator in hospitals (Siciliano et al., 2018). Having a strong network of professional and academic teams and individuals will help the nurse practitioner transition into her new career.

Week 2 | Resources and Strategies

In general, or in my specialty, I have identified the following academic resources and/or strategies.

Directions: Identify and describe three academic resources or methodologies relevant to the MSN program, and three professional resources relevant to nursing practice in general or your specialization in particular. Explain how you plan to use these tools academically and professionally.

RESOURCE/STRATEGY 1

My study plans will be based on my current employment and future career aspirations. I will use the Walden University Writing Center as an academic resource. My goal is to learn as much as I can about the nursing profession. Studying the writing center’s academic materials will help me increase my expertise. The writing center will also help me improve my writing skills by teaching me about different referencing techniques. Using the university writing center will help me learn a range of topics and finish my course quickly. Part 3: Promoting Academic Integrity and Professional Ethics

SCHOOLS/STRATEGY 2
My professors will be useful throughout my course. Our lecturers have access to academic resources and information essential for nursing success. Having them as a resource will help me obtain important information about becoming a registered nurse. My teachers can also help me choose the right policy and support groups for my study. To create positive relationships with the MSN course lecturers is my goal. So I can get all the help I need for my studies.

SCHOOLS/STRATEGY 3

My peers will be useful academic resources in my study. Because we are in the same course, my peers can help me understand various subjects. Working in groups helps us expand our understanding. So I will focus on building great peer relationships. Interacting with them and exchanging ideas and concepts about the MSN program will be required. Engaging other students will help me finish my nursing course.

RESOURCE/STRATEGY 1

My healthcare mentor is a registered nurse. Because my mentor has been a nurse for a long time, he knows exactly what to expect. The nurse practitioner mentor has dealt with many patients. Having a mentor is to help me make career decisions. He gives me excellent knowledge about field experiences that can help me improve my nursing profession.

RESOURCE/STRATEGY 2
The Welcome Home facility will also be used in my research. I’ll spend a lot of time learning about how nurses work in the company Thus, my hospital experiences will help me obtain knowledge and reassess my nursing skills. Understanding the field expectations as an RN practitioner would greatly enhance my nursing career. This facility will allow me to immediately engage in my nursing profession.

3 RESOURCES/STRATEGIES

My MSN program counselor will also be a career resource. My adviser has been working for a long time. During that time, he got valuable patient care experience. He has also gained important skills for job advancement. My main goal in working with my adviser is to learn new skills and knowledge. My objective of becoming a psychiatric nurse will be developed directly with my advisor.

Introduction
According to the research article by Martinengo et al. (2020), it is estimated that there are 800,000 successful suicide incidences globally per year. There is a need for proper assessment of patients for suicide ideations at all levels to ensure their safety. Patients who are poorly or not assessed for suicide might successfully commit suicide and hence loss of life that could have been prevented. Scholars, technologists, and clinicians have proposed different assessment techniques, including several steps that clinicians can use to ensure that the suicide element is identified while assessing a patient. In the table below, I analyze some of the articles where authors discuss research findings of suicide and assessment technique

Conceptual Framework

Describe the theoretical basis for the study (If there is not one mentioned in the article, say that here).**
The study was based on an investigation to establish the best way to assess suicide in individuals through suicide attempt information obtained from single-item self-report survey, multi-item self-report survey, and face-to-face clinical interview. Suicide rates in veteran and military populations in the United States are high. In a research article by Ronald (2017), suicide rates in women veterans is at 35 per 100,000 which is wat higher than the civilian counterparts. Mental health services among Americas returning veterans have been identified as scarce leading to the high suicide rates. The research article reviews the accuracy of methods used to identify individuals who are veterans and are at a high risk of suicide. It also covers the healthcare interventions that have been implemented in the veteran population to tackle the suicide problem The research article assesses the use of technology to prevent suicide through mobile applications on Google play. These are applications that developed to assess depression and suicide risk in individuals Suicidal behavior are very complicated to determine and manage. There are a variety of elements including biological, physiological, psychological, and social aspects that could be the main causes of suicide behaviors in individuals. Suicide behaviors can also be linked to high-stress situations as well as changes in one’s lifestyle. (Castillo-Sánchez et al., 2020)
The article aims at identifying machine learning techniques used to predict suicide in individuals that use social networks
Design/Method

Describe the design and how the study was carried out (In detail, including inclusion/exclusion criteria). The research design was made of Non-experimental studies used to evaluate the relationship between suicide attempt history information that’s collected through a single-item self-report survey, multi-item self-report survey, and face-to-face clinical interview. Inclusion was based on participants’ endorsement of a suicide attempt history on a prescreening survey. Excluding those who did not endorse past suicidal attempt on the survey screening. This research study was based on trials, observational studies, and systematic reviews that apply to U.S. veterans and military personnel. Databases including MEDLINE, PsycINFO, SocINDEX, and Cochrane are the main sources that were used to provide the required articles
Eligible studies in the research included veteran, military populations, and demographically comparable nonveteran adults ages 18 and older from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. A Systematic review was conducted on mobile applications developed to assess depression and suicidal ideations. The applications were got in Google Play for android platforms and Apple’s App Store. The Inclusion criteria was based on searching mobiles apps using key words, such as “depression,” “depressed,” “depress,” “mood disorders,” “suicide,” and “self-harm” launched or updated January 2019 since January 2017. To select the relevant studies on this topic, the authors defined the following inclusion criteria:
English language,
Types of studies: Research paper, Clinical Trial and Case Study.
Published from 2010 up until December 2019.
Focus on suicide.
The studies include algorithms or models to estimate suicide risk using the social network.

Sample/Setting

The number and characteristics of
patients, attrition rate, etc.
Participants involved in the research were undergraduate students (N = 100) selected for study. Participants were ranged in age from 17 to 24 (M = 19.1 years, SD = 1.4), and the sample was 67% female (n = 67) and 32% male (n = 32). The breakdown of self-identified race used was: 62% White, 19% Black, 10% Hispanic/Latino, 3% Asian/Pacific Islander, 4% Mixed Race, and 2% Other Race.

There was a total of 7,788 citations that were reviewed, 681 articles were selected for full-text review, and 37 studies met inclusion criteria. 2690 applications were got with the initial search of app stores. These are applications that were potentially relevant in this area of study. Only Sixty-nine applications met inclusion criteria and were systematically assessed.

Categorization of the applications shows 20 depression management apps that represent 29%, 3 depression management and suicide prevention apps that represent 4%, and 46 suicide prevention apps representing
67% The authors retrieved 426 articles in the search conducted in research databases. After eliminating the duplicates, 424 items were selected for screening.
Major Variables Studied

List and define dependent and independent variables The study was an investigation to compare the measurement of suicide attempt history using a single-item survey, multi-item self – report survey with follow-up questions, and a semi-structured face-to-face clinical interview.
Dependent variable: Types of suicide History Assessment
Independent Variable: Suicide History This article is reviewing accuracy of methods used in the identification of individuals at risk of suicide, the effectiveness and adverse effects of health care interventions relevant to united states veterans and military personals and to reduce reduce suicide and suicide attempts
Independent Variable: Suicide and Suicide attempts

Dependent variable: Suicide risk Assessment methods Independent variable: Suicide / Self harm Ideations
Dependent Variable: Mobile applications that help to meet the unmet needs of people at risk
The major variable of the research article are individual adherence of suicide prevention advice in the management of depression and the available suicide prevention applications. The article reviews the art on the literature concerning the use of machine learning methods for suicide detection on social networks. According to article, the dependent variable is the machine learning methods that include Prism, Decision Tree (DT), Naïve Bayes (NB), RF and SVM. The independent variable is the suicide ideations experienced by people at risk
Measurement
Identify primary statistics used to answer clinical questions (You need to list the actual tests done). 1.Undergraduates (N = 4,847) completed Screening Phase 1, a prescreening survey
2. Completed a follow-up self-report survey as part of Screening Phase 2.
3. Screening Phase 3, which included a brief, face-to-face clinical interview. Nineteen studies of risk assessment methods to identify individuals at increased risk of suicide or suicide attempts evaluated 19 different approaches that were identified.
The research study used several suicide risk assessment methods and models that use retrospective electronic records data and clinical/patient rates instruments
English Language Full- text articles that were considered relevant were examined by two authors one being a physician and the other a doctoral investigator
Systematic assessment of the mobile applications meeting the inclusion criteria.
There were 20 depression management apps representing 29%, 3 depression management and suicide prevention apps representing 4%, and 46 suicide prevention apps that represent 67%

Six applications (9%), including two apps available in both app stores and downloaded more than one million times each, provided an inaccurate crisis helpline number. 65/69 apps of the apps included emergency contact information which is 94%. Also 46/69 apps had direct access to a crisis helpline representing a 67%. The study assessed suicide risk assessment models in social networks.
Data Analysis Statistical or
Qualitative findings

(You need to enter the actual numbers determined by the statistical tests or qualitative data). The study conducted a three phase non- experimental investigation that included self-survey, screening Phase 2, 67% reported a past attempt and 33% reported no past attempts and phase 3 that involved face to face clinical interviews.

According to the research article, measures, interventions, outcomes, and study participants were too diverse to be combined in statistical meta-analysis, and conclusions are based on qualitative synthesis. The suicide assessment methods demonstrated sensitivity greater than or equal to 80% or area-under-the-curve values that is greater or equal to 70 in single studies
The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Chi-square test in case each category had more than ten variables and two-tailed Fisher’s exact test if any of the categories in the contingency table had less than ten variables. The significance level was chosen at p 0.05. Systematic review to identify relevant papers that use suicide risk assessment models in social networks.
Findings and Recommendations

General findings and recommendations of the research Using a single item self-report assessment while assessment history of suicide is a big challenge for the clinicians in classifying prior suicide behaviors
Clinicians should routinely incorporate follow-up questions during suicide assessments when an individual endorses a suicide attempt history. Suicide risk assessment methods are known to be sensitive predictors of subsequent suicide and suicide attempts in individuals; however, the frequency of incorrect positive results limits their clinical utility and does not quality to be a safety measure to be used in safety planning. 69 applications targeting depression and suicide prevention include all six evidence-based suicide prevention techniques.
According to research results, Apple and Google’s app stores, as well as the health application business, have failed to self-govern and ensure quality and safety.

Recommendation
Providing suicide prevention information, for example, governance levels should be differentiated according on the risks and benefits to app users. It is necessary to improve the quality of suicide risk prediction model reports in the social network to benefit the users.
Appraisal and Study Quality

Describe the general worth of this research to practice.

What are the strengths and limitations of study?

What are the risks associated with implementation of the suggested practices or processes detailed in the research?

What is the feasibility of use in your practice? The study provides quality insight on how to assess those at high risk of suicide attempt in clinical settings to ensure their safety.

Although the sample included a relatively large number of individuals belonging to a high-risk demographic group, data were only collected at a single institution.

Clinical staff would require more training and education on how to assess suicide using additional steps. This might be costly for organizations and the need to ensure that clinical staff agree with the new procedures.
My practice being a psychiatric hospital, suicide is a major issue in our patients and all clinicians are supposed to ensure that the screen patients using the available procedures and protocols.
The study provides information on the effectiveness of the suicide risk assessment in preventing suicide,
This review was limited by its focus on veteran and military populations in the United States, which may have excluded important studies in other populations. The article is crucial for policy making in the public health to provide governance on the metal health apps launched to ensure their usefulness in preventing suicide
Strengths
A severe and detailed systematic review methodology was applied in the search for those applications that fit the criteria. This was done by a specialized search engine capable of retrieving the maximum number of applications without any boarder country restrictions hence an increased generalizability of the required findings
Limitations
Due to the stringent inclusion criteria, applications that are targeting other mental health disorders or illnesses were missed

Only four app store categories were selected and used in the search. Apps in other app store categories were missed and not included

In-app paid applications were no assessed in the study

Risks associated with the suggested practices
Apps are technology based and face the problem of data security, hackers and Privacy. There should be good security measures to ensure that user information is safe The study provides insight on the possible use of social networks in prediction and prevention of suicide. The study is using social networks which are the main forms of communication in the current world.

Limitations
This paper is only reviewing those studies that focus primarily on suicide risks. The selected papers are using a scoping review methodology in only four research databases and written in English language and yet their other research studies that can be available in different languages and databases

Key findings

It has been established according to the research that Single-item suicide risk assessment is not sufficient to provide vital information about the individual behavior. It is therefore imperative to use follow up questions and assessments Risk assessments are crucial, however due to its high possibility of having false positivity does not make it a clinical applicable instrument There is a good number of applications that are technology based and offer suicide assessment and prevention strategies to individuals that are at risk. However, few of these have a comprehensive approach including the six strategies discussed in the article Social networks can provide a crucial platform to predict and prevent suicidal attempt.

Outcomes

The single item assessment is not sufficient to provide more information to predict the patient’s next move in terms of suicide or self-harm. The research study indicates the importance of suicide risk assessment in mentally ill patients and individuals at risk of suicide. However, there is a clear indication of failure to be applied successfully in clinical practice where there is much need to save lives There is a failure of Apple and Google app stores, and the health app industry in self-governance, and quality and safety assurance. Governance levels should be stratified by the risks and benefits to users of the app, such as when suicide prevention advice is provided. It is necessary to improve the quality of suicide risk prediction model reports in the social network to benefit the users.
General Notes/Comments The study provides information on how to handle those at risk of attempting suicide by using multiple item assessment and face to face interviews.
Further study is recommended to assess the individual intervention plans. The study recommends collaboration between public health and mobile apps developers to promote more stratified that can help prevent suicide. The study provides insight on the possible use of social networks in prediction and prevention of suicide.

Suicide is the most significant cause of mortality in the United States, particularly among teens and young adults, with almost one million people dying each year. As demonstrated in our study, single-item attempt history screening questions can help identify potentially suitable research subjects. Although a history of suicide attempts is one of the best indicators of the risk of suicide death, little is known about how suicide attempts are reported differently depending on the assessment method (Hom et al., 2016). Individuals’ classifications of previous suicidal behaviors may be challenged by a single-item self-report evaluation of suicide attempt history, especially if not accompanied by defined terminology. Multiple questions or answer alternatives and the use and presentation of well-defined, consistent definitions could all benefit from being included in surveys. In addition, when a person admits to a history of suicide attempts during a face-to-face examination, physicians may find it beneficial to ask follow-up questions. This is in line with studies that emphasize the value of combining self-report psychopathology assessments with clinician assessments, mainly to improve symptom accuracy.
Risk assessment approaches are good sensitive prophets to subsequent suicide and suicide attempts among individuals at risk. However, they are limited by the false positives irregularities that seem to on the high rise and causing doubt. These methods should be refined, and clinical applications should be investigated in the future study. Additional RCTs of promising individual therapies and site-randomized population-level interventions are needed to support suicide prevention programs, as there is inconclusive evidence to support their use. This is applicable in the practice because a patient can be issued a multi-level risk assessment survey to identify those at risk for further evaluation.

The severity of the health outcomes indicates that there is need for change. The suicide rates are high and reducing them is a priority. The organization appreciates that changes are needed to address the suicide rates using elaborate healthcare assessment (Martinengo et al., 2019). There is need for comprehensive assessment of patients with suicide ideation. The leadership is ready for changes to address the suicide rates. The leadership appreciates the importance of changes in the healthcare assessment to address the prevailing problem.
The current problem in the healthcare sector is that the number of suicide cases are on the rise. The high number of suicide patients is leading to unpreventable deaths. The deaths can be prevented by improving the assessment of suicidal ideation (Martinengo et al., 2019). There is need for comprehensive assessment of patients with suicide ideation. The assessment measures include collecting comprehensive information about a patient. Lack of appropriate measures is the major cause of the prevailing problem.
Appropriate interventions are necessary to address the prevailing problem of a high number of suicide cases. One of the proposed ideas is to enhance assessment patients for suicide or suicidal ideation (Nelson et al., 2017). The method is appropriate since it will lead to better mechanisms to prevent the occurrence. The prevention measures include counseling and other psychotherapeutic interventions. Other ideas include follow-up self-report survey as part of screening and brief face-to-face clinical interview as part of screening.
Knowledge transfer in the healthcare sector is important in empowering the healthcare workers. One of the mechanisms of knowledge transfer is to organize training sessions. Training workshops will empower the nurses and physicians on what they need to know about suicide assessment (Castillo-Sánchez et al., 2020). The training methods will comprise training manuals and guides to empower the healthcare workers. Another plan is to use a patient assessment template to examine suicidal ideation.
The measurable outcomes include improved mechanisms to enhance the patient assessment. According to Hom et al. (2016) improving the patient assessment will lead to better outcomes of collecting data about patients at risk of suicide. Another measurable outcome is reducing the number of patients who die of suicide. Identifying the patients at risk will lead to better outcomes such as interventions to prevent suicide. The nurses and physicians will acquire advanced skills to assess patients for suicidal ideation.R

Lessons Learned
The lessons learned show that it is vital to assess patients comprehensively to identify suicidal ideation. Suicidal ideation assessment is a critical tool in the prevention of suicide. I learned that healthcare workers without appropriate training can miss to identify depressed patients at risk of suicidal ideation. For instance, Martinengo et al. (2019) describes suicide prevention using technology and the benefits of clinical guidelines while Hom et al. (2016) examines the limitations of single-item assessment. The studies recommend improvements in the assessment methods.

IN3006: Creating Your Personal Nursing Legacy

IN3006: Creating Your Personal Nursing Legacy
Determining Your Declared Legacy
1. Describe at least two professional nursing organizations you are affiliated with or hope to be affiliated with in the future. Include professional organizations that pertain to nursing or health, nursing and honors fraternities, and any other organized group that works toward the betterment of nursing as a whole.
I am currently not affiliated with any professional organization. I hope to join the National League of Nursing (NLN) and the American Nurses Association (ANA). I had not thought about the benefits of joining a professional body until I started pursuing my bachelor’s degree. My goal is to join a professional body such as ANA to improve my advocacy in promoting a safe and efficient environment for both nurses and the patients (Harding et al., 2018). My goal after completing my bachelor’s level is to start my master’s in nursing. I aspire to become a nursing instructor. The NLN will be a wonderful opportunity since it provides quality opportunities for nurse leaders. The professional organization will give me an opportunity for growth, networking, connections, and future opportunities (Harding et al., 2018). The two professional organizations will help me to achieve my goal of advocating for quality care and improving my skills.
2. Assess two areas of your nursing practice that you would like to improve upon. For example, you might like to increase your confidence when making decisions about patient care, or you may want to improve upon your patient education–related skills.
The two major areas I would like to improve on are critical thinking skills and supporting grieving families. Supporting grieving families is critical since it involves helping the families that lose loved ones. Families of patients experience difficulties and expect support from nurses (Witteman & Zikmund-Fisher, 2019). I always strive to hold back my tears when sharing with families about their patients. However, I hardly know what to say or how to say it. I would like to learn how to communicate to grieving families, the words to use, and the strategies of showing love and support during a sorrowful time.
The second area I would like to improve on is critical thinking skills. The skill is vital in addressing problems that patients experience and creativity in decision-making. Critical thinking skills improve the ability to make decisions about patient care. The skill helps nurses to select the best available patient care options while maintaining patient safety (Witteman & Zikmund-Fisher, 2019). One of the approaches I will use to improve my critical thinking skills is to deal with bias and carry out research. The research will provide me with quality skills to make effective decisions.
3. Analyze what social action or improvement of human and/or social conditions you would like to be best known for by others. Consider the topics or issues that motivate you, and think about those areas within your specialty that might need improvement. For example, perhaps you are very passionate about lowering readmissions by making sound recommendations and helping patients follow through on their continuing care.
I would like to be known for reducing sepsis mortality rates and training other nurses on the protocols they can use to reduce the mortality rates. Following the hospital, the sepsis protocol is effective in detecting early signs and symptoms. Early detection and treatment will provide an opportunity to eliminate the risk of death (Haak et al., 2018). Another strategy is to collaborate with other healthcare workers. Multidisciplinary care is effective in reducing sepsis mortality rates. I would like to be known as a team player who encourages collaboration among healthcare workers. Statistics indicate that 1 in 3 patients die in hospitals accounting for at least 270,000 Americans annually (Haak et al., 2018). Although over 1.5 million patients recover annually, the number of deaths is high. Research finds that healthcare initiatives are necessary since 30 percent of sepsis-related hospitalizations lead to death (Haak et al., 2018). I would like to be remembered for developing initiatives.
4. Based on your answers to these questions, develop a “declared legacy” statement. Consider how you can use those things that you would like to improve upon along with your passions in nursing to improve healthcare overall. For example, you could declare that your legacy will be to “increase knowledge and confidence among fellow nurses to make efficient and effective decisions in patient care as well as to recommend reasonable and meaningful follow-up care.”
Enhance critical thinking skills among nursing practitioners by training them on the sepsis protocols to detect early signs, provide appropriate treatment, and reduce the mortality rates.

Moving Toward Your Declared Legacy
5. Evaluate what you have done or are doing that will make a direct or indirect contribution to your legacy. Include all experiences, engagements in different projects and professional memberships. Your résumé is a good starting point for this activity.
I started my nursing career as a licensed practical nurse at a local mental healthcare facility. I decided to upgrade my skills by furthering my education to become a Registered Nurse. When I became a RN I started working in emergency departments and outpatient services. My roles included patient assessment and working with other healthcare teams to provide comprehensive care. I was cautious about patients with sepsis since I was determined to reduce the mortality rates. I would always ensure I check the medical history and evaluate for possible patient symptoms related to sepsis. I would always talk to my supervisor and nurse managers about the need to collaborate to reduce the sepsis mortality rates.
I have received various certifications including BLS, PALS, and ACLS. The certifications have been vital in boosting my skill and confidence in working in the healthcare sector.
I have been part of the leadership initiating a sepsis assessment and fall prevention among patients. The projects have been vital in enhancing my knowledge about change management in the healthcare sector. I have better skills from the experience of working in the sepsis project on the role of nurses in patient advocacy. I am currently pursuing my BSN course online and looking forward to more exposure in the healthcare sector.
6. Develop three short-term goals (in the next 2 years) that will lead you toward your declared legacy. (e.g., completing your BSN, joining a professional organization or association, volunteering in your community, etc.) Refer to the SMART goals template for assistance in writing specific and meaningful goals. (https://academicguides.waldenu.edu/academic-skills-center/skills/smart-goals)

I will continue pursuing my bachelor of science in nursing at Walden University, complete all units with a score of at least 90 percent and complete by 2022 and graduate with a first class honors.
I will join the American Nursing Association by August 2022 after the graduation at Walden University by registering with the association.
I will join a team of volunteers at Sepsis Alliance by June 2023 and raise awareness among 5,000 people about sepsis symptoms and treatment using social media and online platforms.
7. Develop three long-term goals (in the next 5 years) that will lead you toward your declared legacy. (e.g., completing your MSN, leading on a board of a professional organization or association, etc.) Refer to the SMART goals template for assistance in writing specific and meaningful goals. (https://academicguides.waldenu.edu/academic-skills-center/skills/smart-goals)

I will further my education to the level of master of science in nursing at Walden University by 2025 and graduate with a first class honors.
I will become a leader at Sepsis quality improvement project by 2024 to reduce the mortality rates by 80 percent among both children and adults.
I will become a nurse educator by 2026 after completing my master of science in nursing at Walden University.

8. Analyze at least two current career activities that challenge your ability to achieve your declared legacy. Analyze ways that one or more competing activities could be ended, handed off to another person, or done differently to reduce the time required for a competing activity, and explain your plan to follow through on this.
Poor coordination and delays from the certified nursing assistants are some of the challenges undermining my declared legacy. For instance, failure to receive the results on time is affecting my execution of declared legacy. Certified nursing assistants may take extra time to report the vital signs or abnormal results to a registered nurse (Verger et al., 2021). One of the strategies of ending the problem is to collaborate with the certified nursing assistant to ensure I inform them about a patient with a specific source of infection. The information will help the certified nursing assistant to identify the problem, identify the vital signs, and report immediately. Another solution is that in case patients are at a high risk of infection, registered nurses can assess the patient to ensure timely interventions.
The second challenge is the poor coordination among departments while transferring patients. Transferring patients from the emergency rooms to the wards requires coordination of the healthcare workers. For example, healthcare workers should indicate in their reports the expected interventions and the actual interventions. For example, a patient scheduled for blood tests or antibiotics may miss the medical interventions if the transfer across departments is not done correctly. One of the appropriate interventions to address the problem is to computerize the treatment plans and medical interventions. The computerized systems will ensure all healthcare workers can identify the medical interventions that have been executed and the pending actions (Verger et al., 2021). Another solution is to enhance the spirit of teamwork among the healthcare workers to improve the capacity of sharing data during patient transfer.

Balancing School and Life – My Quality of Life Self-Care Plan

Part 1 – Getting Started
Balancing School and Life – My Quality of Life Self-Care Plan. The purpose of developing this Plan is to set a framework and a plan to maintain wellness and to stay motivated and engaged throughout your Program. Doing this will help you achieve success during your coursework and as a professional nurse.
The goal of the Project is to help you become self-aware and reflective as a means of identifying personal self-care strategies that will increase your energy and help you manage your stress. The Project will give you a chance to learn how this is accomplished as you will be doing similar work with clients during the Program and as a professional nurse to assist them in the same way.
Use the Quality of Life Self Care Wheel – A.pdf
to assess your current state. After you determine your scores, in a 2-3 page paper complete the following:
• Discuss those areas that are strengths (higher scores) and those areas that need further development (lower scores).
• Identify two strategies you can use to maintain or maximize each identified strength.
• Identify two strategies you can use to strengthen each area needing development. Explain how you will put these strategies into action. Be specific. For example, instead of stating, “I need to exercise,” your action should state “I will begin to walk 20 minutes a day, 3 days a week.” The action should be SMART- Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timeframe
• Also attach your completed form
• Minimum length 2 pages not including cover or referencing. APA formatting

Part 2: How Am I Doing?
Share in a 2 page paper, the following:
. Re-look at your Quality of Life Self-Care Wheel scores. Have they changed? If so, in what ways.

Part 3 Researching for Evidence
For this written assignment, select one recent (within the past two years) evidence-based article from a peer reviewed nursing journal that describes a “best practice” in an area of nursing you are interested in. For example, if you would like to be a pediatric nurse, select an article that discusses a best practice in pediatric care.

Cite the article and provide a brief overview of how the results or findings were obtained. Then describe the “best practice.” Conclude your discussion by explaining whether you thought the research findings supported the conclusions and the best practice.

This assignment must be no more than 2 pages long. It should include all of the required elements. Use APA Editorial format and attach a copy of the article.

Part 4 The Case of Mrs. G.
Mrs. G. is a 75 year old Hispanic woman who has been relatively well all of her life. She had been married for 50 years and had five children. Her children are grown with families of their own. All but one of her children live in other states. Mrs. G.’s husband passed away last year, which was devastating for her. She had been very close to him and relied upon him for everything. He was “the life of the party” she always said and was a loving and caring man. Since his passing, Mrs. G. has continued to live in the house they shared for 35 years. In the last month, Mrs. G. has fallen twice sustaining injuries, though minimal. Her home health nurse comes weekly to check in on her. Mrs. G. likes her very much and wishes she could come more often. Mrs. G.’s daughter who lives in the next town over, has been worried and decided with the urging of her siblings and the doctor to start looking for an assisted living facility for her mother. She found one last week and talked with the Director who said she would be happy to help in whatever way was best. The daughter decided to tell her mother that it was time for her to move, so she can be cared for and be safe. When she told her mother, Mrs. G. cried and said, “This will not happen ever. I plan to stay in this house of loving memories for the remainder of my life.”

My Self-Care Strategy for Improving My Quality of Life
Stress, fatigue, and burnout are all risks that healthcare workers face, and personal self-care plans are essential to reducing these risks. Nurses should exercise caution to ensure that they are taking good care of their mental and physical health in order to provide appropriate care to patients (Gribben & Semple, 2020). When you don’t have a self-care plan, you run the risk of making a medical error and having a bad job. My self-care strategy will include spending quality time with my family. I will make every effort to leave work on time and spend time with my family at home. For example, I will make an effort to spend my off days with my family, participating in activities such as dinner together, going out, and swimming. According to me, the activities are both refreshing and strategic in terms of stress and fatigue reduction. Work-life balance is critical for healthcare workers because it helps them provide better care to their patients (Gribben & Semple, 2020). In the delivery of care, it is critical to strike a balance between work demands and personal responsibilities.
Based on the results of a reevaluation of my self-care plan, it is clear that I need to make improvements in several areas of my life. Due to the demands of my job, I am still having difficulty finding time for my family. For example, during the pandemic, I find it difficult to visit relatives or spend quality time with my own family. My father has been expressing dissatisfaction with my absence from family gatherings. Weekends are particularly difficult for me because I am always committed at work. It is critical to re-align strategies in order to avoid burnout and exhaustion in the workplace (Waddill-Goad, 2019). I will make every effort to delegate my responsibilities to others and request that my commitments be reduced. My work-life balance will improve as a result of this approach, and my stress levels will decrease.
According to the results, I need to improve my ability to set aside time for recreation and rest. In order to reduce the risk of depression, it is critical to take time to rest (Holland et al., 2019). I can become so focused on my job that I lose sight of my family life. The obligations at work, particularly during a pandemic, can limit the amount of time available for rest and recreation. My goal is to take a day off once a week to unwind and spend time with my family on at least two family vacations per year. I plan to accompany my family on picnics and camping trips in order to improve the quality of their relationships.
Another area in which there is room for improvement is health and fitness. The enhancement will be appropriate in order to increase my ability to continue to provide patient care (Holland et al., 2019). In order to achieve this, I will make an effort to attend gym sessions, cycle on weekends, and jog every morning. I’ve been a failure at staying in shape, which has resulted in me gaining weight. In terms of eating healthy foods, I’m not very good at it, which puts my health at risk. Due to my hectic schedule, I rarely have time to prepare meals at home. Purchasing fast food in hotels always exposes my body to negative health consequences.
The new strategy for implementing a self-care plan that is effective is to develop a strategic plan for the coming week, month, and year. In the strategic plan, I will outline the activities that I should carry out within a specified time frame. Prioritizing family and personal obligations will be critical in this endeavor. In order to spend more time with my family, I will set aside at least one day per week for this purpose. Holidays, as well as health and fitness activities, will be included in the strategic plan. In order to revolutionize my life, I have a responsibility to adhere to the strategic plan. Following the strategic plan will help me achieve a better work-life balance, improve my health, reduce stress, and boost my sense of self-worth.

My Self-Care Strategy for Improving My Quality of Life
Scores on the Quality of Life Self-Care Wheel
The scores on the self-care wheel for quality of life have changed slightly from the previous scores. One of the lessons I’ve learned is that I need to find a way to balance my work and family obligations. I hardly ever take time out of my busy schedule to spend quality time with my family. Since completing the evaluation of my life self-care plan, I’ve become more aware of the negative consequences of neglecting my family for the sake of my career. The modifications are made in small increments. For example, I started scheduling time with my family on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. My relationship with my family has been drastically altered as a result of this approach. I’ve realized that I need to make some changes in my life in order to achieve work-life balance. Work-life balance is essential for increasing productivity, improving well-being, and increasing commitment and motivation at all levels of the organization (Kelliher et al., 2019). I am looking forward to making additional changes in the future in order to live a happier lifestyle.
Tension and stress are two words that come to mind.
Tension and stress are at an all-time high in my family, between my parents, and among my friends. On most weekends, I find myself missing out on important family gatherings and activities. My father has been expressing dissatisfaction with my commitment to work and neglect of family responsibilities. I believe that putting into action the strategies I’ve identified in the past will help to alleviate the stress and tension. For example, I will make an effort to spend quality time with my family and maintain positive relationships with my friends. According to research, maintaining healthy relationships with friends can help to reduce stress (Hoying et al., 2020). People who spend time with their friends have a lower risk of developing high blood pressure and a rapid heart rate. I believe that the strategies will help me to improve my health as well as my relationships with my peers.
It is possible to rate my level of tension as an 8 out of 10. It has been several weeks since I began putting the strategies into action that I have noticed a reduction in tension and stress. I’ve discovered that spending time with family and friends allows me to talk about issues that I’m having trouble dealing with. My tension and discomfort are relieved when I can share my experiences with others. For example, I’ve discovered that sharing solves half of my problems because I can learn from other people’s experiences with similar challenges. I used to believe I was the only one going through difficulties until I began to share my experiences with my friends, which changed my perspective. Another advantage of sharing with friends is that they can act as a source of moral support for one another. The importance of moral support in reducing the risk of depression and stress cannot be overstated (Hoying et al., 2020).
Innovative Approaches
Among the new strategies I intend to implement is the creation of a weekly timetable for myself. The strategy will assist me in completing the tasks prior to the weekend’s end. Over the weekend, I will refrain from making any commitments. Timetables are effective in reducing the wastage of energy and resources (Drew & Marshall, 2020). What should be done at specific times of the day and hour is explained in detail in this document. A timetable will enhance the development of priorities and allocate sufficient time to complete every project.
The second strategy is to work on the issues I have been neglecting such as self-esteem. I have always felt I will be intimidated when I meet with high school alumni and college graduates. Working on personal issues will eliminate the risk of spending time at work as a runaway strategy (Drew & Marshall, 2020). Establishing strong relationships with friends will help me to generate healthy relationships at work and home and live a fulfilled life.
